BlockGPS Privacy Policy

BlockGPS is a platform that connects vehicle data with automated, transparent payments. BlockGPS uses vehicle location, mileage, and other vehicle information — with the vehicle owner's permission — to calculate and settle vehicle-related charges such as tolls, mileage-based insurance, and rental usage, and to maintain a verifiable record of those transactions.

We collect information you give us when you use BlockGPS, which may include:

• Account information, such as your name, email address, and login credentials.
• Business information, if you use BlockGPS for a fleet or rental business, such as your business name and contact details.
• Vehicle information you enter, such as vehicle names, license plates, or payment settings.
• Wallet addresses you choose to use for cryptocurrency-based settlement, and transaction records associated with them.
• Communications you send us, such as support requests.

With your permission, BlockGPS can receive vehicle data through third-party integrations — for example, connected-vehicle services such as Smartcar, or GPS and telematics providers. We only access connected vehicle data after you (or the vehicle's owner or authorized user) explicitly grant permission through that provider's authorization flow. You can revoke that permission at any time, as described below.

Depending on the permissions you grant, connected vehicle data may include:

• Vehicle identifiers, including the vehicle identification number (VIN).
• Vehicle make, model, and year.
• Odometer readings and mileage.
• Vehicle location.
• Fuel level, battery level, charging state, and general vehicle status, where available and authorized.

The specific data we request is limited to what BlockGPS needs to provide its services. We do not request permissions to send remote commands to your vehicle (such as locking or unlocking it).

We use the information described above to operate and provide BlockGPS, including:

• Rental and vehicle-sharing session management and mileage-based rental billing.
• Mileage calculation and per-mile insurance events.
• Toll detection, responsibility tracking, and toll settlement.
• Processing and recording transactions and payments, including blockchain-based settlement where you choose it.
• Creating responsibility snapshots that attribute vehicle charges to the responsible person or business.
• Fraud prevention and security of the platform.
• Providing customer support.
• Platform operations, analytics, and improving our services.

We do not sell the personal information we collect. Vehicle data accessed through third-party integrations is used only for the purposes described in this policy.

BlockGPS relies on third-party services to operate. These include: connected-vehicle and telematics providers (such as Smartcar and GPS fleet providers) that supply authorized vehicle data; payment and blockchain services that process or record settlements; and infrastructure providers that host and secure the platform. These providers process data on our behalf or under their own terms, and each is limited to the data it needs to perform its function.

We retain account and transaction information for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain reliable business and audit records. Because BlockGPS settlement records are designed to be verifiable, transaction histories are retained for extended periods. Telemetry data is retained as needed for billing, audit, and dispute resolution. When you ask us to delete your data, we remove or de-identify it except where we are required to retain it (for example, transaction and accounting records).

We protect your information using technical and organizational measures appropriate to its sensitivity. These include encryption of sensitive credentials in transit and at rest, strict access controls, role-based permissions, tenant isolation between businesses, and audit logging of administrative actions. Sensitive credentials such as provider client secrets and signing keys are stored server-side and are never exposed to end-user devices or browsers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If you connected a vehicle through a third-party integration, you can revoke BlockGPS's access at any time from the provider's own settings (for example, your Smartcar or vehicle manufacturer account). You can also disconnect the integration from your BlockGPS settings, or contact us using the address below. Revoking access stops future data collection through that integration; data already lawfully collected and retained for billing, audit, or legal purposes may be retained as described above.

To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to ask questions about this policy, contact us at michael@blockgps.io. We will respond within a reasonable period and will verify your identity before acting on requests involving your personal data.

BlockGPS is intended for adults and businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or a higher age where required by local law). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was most recently revised. Material changes will be highlighted on this page or communicated to you directly where appropriate.
